Joel Raymond Ryan

Burdett – Joel Raymond Ryan was born prematurely on January 22, 2016; the son of Jason L. and Jenae L. Skelton Ryan. He died January 24, 2016 at 2 days old at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was a tiny little guy who made a huge impact on the lives of those he touched.

Survivors include: his parents; maternal grandparents, Jason and Renae Skelton, Larned; paternal grandparents, Jim and Lynn Ryan, Burdett; maternal great grandparents, Larry and Janet Skelton, Larned and Tom and Lois Lacock, Rossville, Kansas; paternal great grandmothers, Virginia Ryan, Spearville and Kathy Sherlock, Hollenburg, KS; Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandfathers; Raymond Ryan and Jerry Still.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett, with Father John Strasser presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Brian Lee Ernst

Brian Lee Ernst, 58, died September 19th, 2015, at his home in Holyrood. He was born December 4, 1957, in Great Bend, the son of Robert Lee and Irma J. (Steinert) Ernst. Brian was a 1975 graduate of Hoisington High School. Brian had a knack for computers and had a self-employed business fixing computers.
He married Nora Gorman and they later divorced. He then married Ellen Gaye Baldwin on March 7, 1992, in Great Bend.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ellen Gaye Ernst; a daughter, Amanda Kelly and husband Joe of Berea, Kentucky; stepson, Gregg Kern of Olathe; a brother, Michael Ernst and wife Debra of Hoisington; a sister, Cathy Weber and husband Bill of Pawnee Rock; and four grandchildren, Crystal Dawson, Seth Kelly, Damian Kelly, and Kennedy Laine Kern.
A private family inurnment will be held in Golden Belt Memorial Park and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

Betty N. (Nan) Williams

Larned – Betty N. (Nan) Williams, 89 passed away January 18, 2016 at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born March 15, 1926 on a farm near Garfield, Kansas the daughter of Clarence W. and Mae Wolfe Hall. A longtime Larned resident; she was a teacher and educator in Muscatine, Iowa from 1966 to 1986 and raised her family in Larned, Kansas, Pratt, Kansas and Muscatine, Iowa.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Christian Women Fellowship and the Garden Club, all of Larned.

On April 9, 1944 she married Linzie Williams in Larned on Easter Sunday; he passed away May 28, 2006.

Survivors include; three sons, C. Michael Williams, Westminster, Colorado, Richard Norman Williams, Omaha, Nebraska and Warner Kent Williams, El Dorado, KS; a daughter, Laurie Kristine Williams, Larned; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; a brother, Gene Hall and two sisters, Virginia Goldberry and Wanda Johnson.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Marcus Gonzalez presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas.

Bones married Frances Werner September 8, 1955 at Odin, Kansas. She survives.
A farmer and rancher, Bones was a lifetime Odin resident. His past careers include welding, tank truck service, oilfield driller, and dirt construction. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, and collector of priceless memorabilia. He took great pride in founding the Prosser Arena and had a passion for planting shelter belts.
Bones was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Council #2630, both of Odin, and the American Legion Post 200, Holyrood, KS. Bones was a long standing board member of Beaver Grain.

Lloyd Junior Deitsch

Lloyd Junior Deitsch, 76, died January 16, 2016, at Via Christi, St. Francis, Wichita. He was born February 10, 1939, in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of Lloyd Jennings and Ethel (MacDonald) Deitsch. Lloyd graduated from St. Mary Memorial High School in 1957, and attended the Graceland College in Lomoni, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1961.
A resident of Hoisington since 2003, he has worked in construction, for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and most recently as a CNA for Sunflower Diversified Services and retired from Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Lloyd was also the author of the book “I Have Cancer But It Doesn’t Have Me”, which was published in April of 2012.
Lloyd was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Great Bend. He was a former member of the American Legion, was past president of the Lions Club, and was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in St. Marys, Ohio.
On July 21, 1962, he married Barbara Behm in St. Marys, Ohio. He later married Bonnie Lou Kinne on April 7, 1980, in Beaver City, Nebraska. She died January 3, 2012.
Survivors include; two sons, Bryan Deitsch of White House, Tennessee, Brent Deitsch of Decatur, Alabama; a daughter, Elea Durr of Hoisington; two granddaughters, Brandy Fletcher of Silver Springs, Florida, and Ashley Durr of Hoisington; and three brothers, William Deitsch and wife Louann of Bluffton, Ohio, Robert Deitsch and wife Sharon and Donald Deitsch and wife Suzie, all of St. Marys, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Bonnie Lou Deitsch.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Regan Scherencel. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Argelle Jane Anne Hearn

Larned- Argelle Jane Anne Hearn,68, passed away January 17, 2016 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.

She was born June 7, 1947 in Stafford County the daughter of Donell LeRoy and Annabelle Steele Kent. A Larned and Stafford resident, she was a Rural Rt. Mail Carrier in Stafford.

She was a member of the Church of Nazarene, Larned and the VFW in Stafford. She enjoyed genealogy, collecting Smurfs and M&M merchandise and she also loved spending time with her grandkids and great grand kids.

She married Richard W. Hearn in Stafford County. He passed away December 24, 1995.

Survivors include: one daughter, Laura (Matt) Figger, Larned, KS.; one step-daughter, Kathy Henry, Great Bend, KS.; four brothers, Melvin Kent, California, Gary Kent, Colorado, Gayle Kent, St. John, KS., Bradley (BD) Kent, Hutchinson, KS.; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Amy Striplin; one step-son, Dennis Hearn and two brothers, LeRoy Kent and Roger Kent.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held, Thursday at 2 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor LeRoy Lyon presiding. Inurnment will be in the Stafford Cemetery, Stafford. Memorials may be given to the Jane Hearn Memorial Fund in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS. 67550.

Elizabeth Zorn, 88, died January 16, 2016, at Lakepoint Assisted Living, Augusta, Kansas. She was born October 29, 1927, in rural Barton County, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel.

A lifetime Barton County resident (2010), she worked in the lunch program at USD #354, Claflin, for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Elizabeth was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and the Sunflower Polka Club.

On May 10, 1948, she married Leonard Zorn in Dubuque, Kansas. He died June 18, 2010.

Survivors include; a daughter, Diana (Henry) Mantz of Westmont, Illinois; a son, David (Luella) Zorn of Augusta, Kansas; a sister, Bernice Zorn of Derby, Kansas; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Audra) Zorn , Nathan (Kelsey) Zorn , Neal Zorn, Rebecca Mantz, andCassandra Mantz ; 5 great grandchildren, Breck Zorn, Parker Zorn, Trace Zorn, Connor Zorn, and Abigail Mantz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers; Frank Tinkel, Jr., Anton “Tony” Tinkel, Albert Tinkel; and three sisters, Mary Redetezke, Regina Birzer, and Anna Urban.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, celebrated by Father Terrance W. Klein. Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held Jan. 25, 2016 at Calhoun Cemetery, Calhoun, La. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to Almost Home, Inc. or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Donna Lee Wade

Larned – Donna Lee Wade, 85, passed away January 12, 2016 at her home, Larned, Kansas.

She was born April 6, 1930 in Norman, Oklahoma; the daughter of Donald and Juanita Beagles Sells. A longtime area resident, she was a Registered Nurse.

She was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a member of the D.A.R. and loved gardening and flowers.

On December 9th she married Lowell D. Wade; he passed away May 13, 1998.

Survivors include; two sons, Byron Wade (Renea), Chanute and Lee Wade (Jan), Medicine Lodge; a daughter Debra Rainbolt (Cecil), Larned; a brother, Don Sells (Linda), Sand Springs, Oklahoma; a sister Eula; eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; a brother Ron Sells.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Hardtner Cemetery, Hardtner, Kansas, burial will follow in the Hardtner Cemetery.
