Wayne Merle Temple, III, 52, died August 6, 2015, in Walworth County, Wisconsin. He was born March 29, 1963, the son of Wayne Merle Temple, Jr. and Donna Jean (Westhoff) Temple. Wayne was a truck driver for Swift Trucking. He previously worked as a residential and commercial painter in Denver and Las Vegas for 30 years.
Wayne was a resident of Hoisington since 2012, moving from Aurora, CO. Wayne attended the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington. He was an avid Broncos and Avalanche Fan, loved Texas Hold’em poker and roulette, fireworks and family BBQ’s on the Fourth of July. He also loved listening to rock and roll while on the road.
On March 7, 2007, he married Kele Brinlee, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives. Other survivors include; a step son, Kejlt Phillips of the home; step daughter, Kirsten Phillips of Denver, CO; dad and step mother, Joseph & Kay Dernovish of Shreveport, LA; brother, Joseph Dernovish, Jr. of Shreveport, LA.; sisters, Dana Temple of Denver, CO, Lori (Temple) Hahn of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Dernovish of Atlanta, GA, Cassi (Dernovish) Wright of Las Vegas, NV, and Kelli (Dernovish) Joch of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne M. Temple, Jr. and mother, Donna Dernovish.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Kris Brinlee presiding. He married Bertha M. Wells November 9, 1940 at Great Bend, Kansas.  She died June 17, 2008.

He was warehouse manager for O’Neill Tank Company.

Mr. Priesner was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1939 coming from Hoisington, Kansas.

He was a United States Merchant Marine veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #862, both of Great Bend.

Leta E. Ochs, 73, died August 19, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Great Bend. She was born December 7, 1941, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd Dean and Valaska LeVerne (Henderson) Jackson. Leta graduated from Hutchinson High School.

A resident of Hoisington for the last 44 years, she worked in housekeeping for Cheyenne Meadows and Great Bend Health and Rehab.

On August 5, 1975, she met Alan D. Ochs in Hoisington, and they have remained together ever since.
She is survived by Alan; and eight children, Wendell Akins of Ellinwood, Michael Akins of Ellinwood, Ruby Griffis and husband Gary of Great Bend, Mary LeShore of Great Bend, Linda Basye and husband Doug of Great Bend, Orlin Akins and wife Lorreta of Hillsboro, Oregon, Justina Ochs of Wichita, and Angela Ochs of Hoisington; brothers, Garry Jackson of Hoisington, Floyd L. Jackson of Taft, Oklahoma; sisters, Ruby Jo Boyd of Joseph, Oregon, and Mary Frances Logan and husband Floyd of Hutchinson; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Brenda Stephens, and a great grandson, Damen Penã.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding. Friends may sign the book now until service at the funeral home. There will be no viewing, her body was donated to science per her wishes. Tamsel F. Rogers

Tamsel Rogers PhotoLarned – Tamsel F. Rogers, 105, passed away August 18, 2015 in Larned.

She was born October 14, 1909 in Osborne County, the daughter of Orville and Pearl Marlar Fallis. Moving to Larned in 1968, she was a teacher and principal.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, belonged to the United Methodist Women, D.A.R., Garden Club and was a volunteer at the Budget Shop, all of Larned.

On August 6, 1940, she married Verlin McClancy Rogers in Rush Center. He passed away October 20, 2010.

Survivors include: a grandson, V. Mark Rogers (Craig Wilson), Wichita; a granddaughter, Holly Rogers, Kinsley; a great grandson, Brandon Chinn, Larned.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Rogers, and a brother, Denzil Fallis.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Mortuary. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Vincent Cemetery, Luray, Kansas

She was born May 28, 1932, in Sedan, the daughter of Lee and Laura Puckett Howe, a longtime area resident she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Garfield.

On August 10, 1952, she married Adolph William Stueckemann in Ellinwood. He passed away on April 18, 2006.

Survivors include: three daughters, Lee Anne Williams, Larned, Laura Kirkwood and husband Kent, Larned, Layna Dechant and husband Gary, San Tan Valley, AZ; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Kenneth Howe and a son-in-law, Gerald R. (Ace) Williams.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, KS.

He was a radio electronic technician in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. He was a commercial pilot with fixed wing and rotor ratings. Al was of the Lutheran faith and a member of AARL, and the Great Bend Amateur Radio Club.

Romona Jean Snodgrass

LARNED – Romona Jean Snodgrass, 85, passed away August 9, 2015 at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born October 16, 1929 in Larned,KS, the daughter of Claude Wilburn and Flossie Bell Williams Lewis. A lifetime area resident, she was a Dietary/food Supervisor at the Larned State Hospital and Pawnee Heights School.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of Rozel and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Over 50 Club, both of Garfield, Golden Rule Quilting Club and Rozel FCE.

On November 16, 1948, she married Paul Estel Snodgrass. He passed away December 3, 1982.

Survivors include: Two sons, James (Susan) Snodgrass, Rozel and Jerry Snodgrass, Rozel; four daughters, Deborah (Jerome) Mangen, Cedar Vale, Diana Pfeifer, Hays, and Donna (Brian) Pivonka, Larned, Julie Snodgrass, Rozel; two sisters, Gloria Desch, Stillwater, MN and Barbara Rush, Topeka; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; two sons, Joe and John Snodgrass; two great grandsons, Peyton & Jaxson Snodgrass; son-in-law, Richard Pfeifer; sister Wilma Gravel.

Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary, burial will be in the Garfield cemetery, Garfield, KS.
