JUDITH  J.  HRYMECKI 

Judith J. Hrymecki, age 74 years, of Albert, Kansas passed away at her home in Albert on Sunday evening, July 12, 2015.  Judith was born on January 9, 1941 at White Heath, Illinois to Robert Dwight and Nannie Elizabeth (Parker) Robinson. She was united in marriage to John J. Hrymecki on December 14, 1979 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakley, Michigan, and the couple made their home in Chapin, Michigan for fifteen years and then in Owosso, Michigan for fifteen years prior to moving to Albert, Kansas in 2009.  While in Michigan, Judith worked for Universal Electric, Woodards Furniture, and Ovid Convalescent Home.  She and her husband John also were members and custodians at Gilead Baptist Church in Owosso, Michigan for many years. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, collecting chicken figurines (and really anything “chicken”), and was truly happiest caring for her family.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Hrymecki of Albert, Kansas; five sons:  Rick (and his wife, Kari) Sexton of Gosport, Indiana, Randy (and his wife, Tammy) Sexton of Winterhaven, Florida, Greg (and his wife, Jessica) Bridenger of Nampa, Idaho, Wade Sexton of Michigan, and Steve (and his wife, Roxeanne) Sexton of Albert, Kansas; one stepson, Billy Hrymecki of St. Johns, Michigan and one step-daughter, Michelle (and her husband, Tim) Perry of Portland, Michigan; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren; two sisters:  Sue (and her husband, Jim) Haworth of Owosso, Michigan and Irene (and her husband, Dan) Arnold of Brantford, Ontario, Canada.  Judith was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and seven sisters.

According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen.  There will be no viewing or services at this time. Marian Beakey Call passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at The Cedars in McPherson. She was born July 12, 1921, in Great Bend, the daughter of Arthur and Isabella (Schwager) Beakey. She was the oldest of six children. Marian lived in Great Bend for all but two years when her family moved to Chicago during her youth. She resided at The Cedars Nursing Home in McPherson for the last three years.

Marian received her Nutrition degree from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kan. She later received a degree in Library Science and worked as a Reference Librarian at the Great Bend Library for many years. Marian was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, Altar Society, and the Daughters of Isabella, all of Great Bend.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Steve Schneider of Kingwood, TX; nephew who she raised, Kevin Beakey and his wife Debby of McPherson, KS; four loving grandchildren and their spouses, Shelley (Brad) Armstrong and Stephanie (Jonathan) Moreland, Jason Brabander and Jill (Jesse) Jackson, and six great-grandchildren; brother Jim Beakey and countless nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Christine Beakey, Ruth Piltz, Stella Devine and brother, Kenneth Beakey.

A big thank you to all the caring, compassionate nurses at The Cedars who cared for Marian over the past three years.

Mass of Christian Burial for Marian will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Ted Stoecklein. A burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, July 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home, with an Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Vigil with Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 7 p.m.

Beverly Ann Comer

Albert – Beverly Ann Comer, 68, passed away July 8, 2015 at her home in Albert, KS.

She was born July 8, 1947 at Miles City, Montana, the daughter of Harry F. and Lola M. Hartman Harmoning. She graduated in 1965 from Billings High School in Billings, MT. A longtime Barton/Pawnee County resident, she was a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Activity Dept. for Larned State Hospital for 29 ½ years and was awarded non-uniform employee for the year for the state of Kansas.

On April 12, 1989 she married Dennis (Fuzz) Dale Comer at Larned, KS. He survives.

She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Albert and the VFW Auxiliary, Larned.

Survivors include: one son, Russell A. Shore (Kami), Lubbock, TX; one step-son, Denny Comer Jr. (Stephanie), Clearwater, KS; three daughters, Leslie A. Shore, Larned; Kimberly K. ( Todd) Porter, Wichita; Kristey L. (Todd) Andrews, Camby OR; four sisters: Judy Williams, Michigan; Betty Ready, Great Falls, MT; Carol Osen, Molt, MT; Elaine Harmoning, Laurel, MT; two brothers, Henry Harmoning, Billings, MT; Eugene Harmoning, Tacoma, WA; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her faithful puppy, Prudence Jane Comer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nancy Johnson.

Funeral service will be 2p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Rev. Mark Lovett and Vicar Adam Barkley presiding. Visitation will be from 9am to 8pm Thursday, and Friday, at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be 2p.m. Monday, July 13th in the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, KS.

Name of Deceased: Merlyn Stoecklein                                              Age: 78

Merlyn Stoecklein passed away on July 7, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb., after a short illness.  She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Merlyn was born on October 12, 1936 to John and Lucille (Anderson) Fischer at St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, Kan.  She graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Adele Hale Business School in Hutchinson.

On August 20, 1960, she married Jerry Stoecklein at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.

She was employed as the secretary/bookkeeper at Stickney Coors Distributing in Great Bend, from 1979 until the business was sold in 2012.

Merlyn enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, shopping, dancing, playing cards, spending time with others and her pets.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Golden Belt Community Concert Association, a former Cub Scout leader and a grand-friend at Holy Family School.

Immediate survivors include her husband, Jerry, of the home; two sons, Karl Stoecklein of Houston, Texas, and Alan Stoecklein of rural Olmitz, Kan.; a sister, JoAnn Simpson of Great Bend, Kan.; and a brother, Stephen Fischer and wife, Nancy, of Martinez, Calif.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015,  at Bryant Funeral Home. The family requests those attending to please dress casual. Father Ted Stoecklein will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Great Bend Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Born April 14, 1931 – Died July 7, 2015
Blessed with many friends and a great family, I had a good life. I was privileged to be a citizen of the United States of America where, at this place and time in history, I could pursue my passion in history, for working in clay, painting, making music, and gardening.
My good husband of 51 years and I had 2 loving children: Charisse (Delp) Beadles, and Bryan Delp, and were blessed with 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
As you read this I am taking on a new role, as is the nature of things, but I wish you all, here on earth, peace and love always.

Colleen was born April 14, 1931 in Shallow Water, Kansas. Her parents were Elmer and Blanche Blankenship Collins. She was a lifetime resident of Burdett. She gave to that community her many talents of art, music and gardening.

She was survived by; her children, Bryan (Pamela) Delp, Burdett and Charisse (Lon) Beadles, Wellington; her grandchildren; Daniel (Kelsey) Delp, Wichita, Taleyna (Eric) Morris, Springfield, MO, Trista (Mark) Curzydlo, Basehor, KS, Paul (Amber) Beadles, Olpe, Andilynn Beadles, Bangor, Maine ; seven great grandchildren and her sister, Marilyn Blythe Cramer, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Neil Delp, Jr.; brothers, Elmer Thaine Collins and Denton Collins.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Burdett Senior Center with a come and go at 7:00pm and a remembrance time at 7:30pm.

Virginia Marie Keast

Virginia KeastLarned – Virginia Marie Keast, 87, passed away July 6, 2015 at Country Place Senior Living, Larned.

She was born on May 7, 1928, in Larned, the daughter of Ralph E. and Marie Lawton Taylor. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and enjoyed tennis, golf, playing bridge and was a loving mother and faithful Christian.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Women, served as an elder and a deacon and sang in the church choir, Larned.

On July 30, 1949, she married Donald R. Keast in Larned. He passed away April 6, 1990.

Survivors include: five sons, Scott, Robert (Bob), Mike and James (Jim), all of Larned, and Duane, Salina; three daughters, Mary Bryant and Sarah Culver, both of Rogers, AR, and Rebecca Traylor, Dodge City; brother, Maxwell Taylor, Topeka; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. and Harry T. Taylor and a sister, Luella Houdyshell.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Larned, with Pastor P.J. Southam presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

Koneta Anton

Koneta Anton, 88, of Fort Collobit photoins, Colorado, peacefully passed away in her sleep, June 28, 2015. Born 10/17/1926 in New Albany, Kansas to Charles Runyon and Cynthia Runyon (Baker), she was the youngest of 12 siblings.

Having lived most of her life in Kansas, she spent the last seven years in Fort Collins where she was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff of Collinwood Assisted Living.
In 1947, she married Walker Reames Bird in Stafford, Kansas. Together they helped manage the Bird family Poultry and Egg Company in Stafford for several years. Reames passed in 1967. For more than forty years she lived in Great Bend, Kansas where she married Quentin Anton in 1978. Quentin passed in 2007. She was the display and advertising manager for JC Penney in Great Bend for twenty plus years.

While Koneta enjoyed cooking and crafting and had a keen compassion for animals, she will be most remembered for her sense of humor.

Koneta leaves behind one daughter, Reneta Bird and a son in law, Eric Piston, of Fort Collins, two grandsons, Brandon Santoro and Blake Santoro, of Fort Collins, one brother, Russell Runyon, of Casper, Wyoming, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

OBITUARY INFORMATION
William L. Johnson, 78, died July 1st at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. The son of Clarence “Shorty” and Ruth Lindsay Johnson, Bill was born April 11, 1937 on the family farm near Fellsburg, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during the late 1950s.

He married  Patricia Titus, on October 4, 1959 at Lewis, Kansas. They moved to Great Bend from Lewis in 1967 after Bill co-founded Great Bend Industries where he worked until his retirement.

Bill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Great Bend. He served on the U.S.D. 428 Board of Education for two terms during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He  also served on many local and regional committees involving education and commerce.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three children, Tim Johnson (Susan) of Great Bend, Troy Johnson (Leslie) of Lenexa, and Teresa Johnson of Great Bend; two brothers, Richard Johnson of Spearville and Daniel Johnson of Wichita; seven grandchildren, Trent, Brittany, Blake, Evan, Kurt, Ryan, and Cara; and his beloved dachshund, Poppy. He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
