Ronella “Della” Maxine Skelton

Skelton, RonellaLarned – Ronella “Della” Maxine Skelton, 91, passed away June 14, 2015, at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born January 12, 1924 in Rozel, the daughter of Leslie A. and Clara Imogene Elmore Deighton, she was retired from the Larned State Hospital where she worked in the property control department. She moved to Bartow, Florida in 1992 then moved back to Larned in 2003.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW, and was the past president of the Business Professional Women, all of Larned. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Bartow, Florida

On July 18, 1943, she married Neal Norwood Skelton in Larned. He passed away April 28, 1998.

Survivors include: a son, Larry Skelton and wife Janet, Larned; two brothers, Ned Deighton, St. Charles, MO., Leslie Deighton Jr., Macksville; one sister, Jean Gross, Larned; nine grandchildren, Julie Martel and husband Michael, Larned, Jason Skelton and wife Renae, Larned, Jill Lawson and husband Virgil, Sylvan Grove, Jared Skelton and wife Tisha, Larned, Jan Alford and husband Robert, Ganado, Texas, Teresa Howell and husband Layne, Gainesville, Florida, Tammy Dozois and husband Robert, Nashua, New Hampshire, Stacey Gager and husband Michael, Fort Worth, Texas and Kelly Manning, Mulbery, Florida; twenty-one great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Farr Zeltwagner and son-in-law, T. Geary Farr; two brothers, Jim and Robert Deighton and three sisters, Elaine Bantz, Juanita Skelton and LaDayne Burger.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th, 2015 at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Marcus Gonzalez presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

DARLENE  R.  HUNT 

Darlene R. Hunt, age 84 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at her home in Great Bend on Saturday morning, June 27, 2015 after a brief illness.  Darlene was born on March 5, 1931 at Alexander, Kansas to Walter H. and Minnie (Krug) Boese.  She graduated from Alexander High School in 1947 and worked for the former Parsons-Williams Funeral Home (now Prairie Rose Funeral Home) in Anthony, Kansas for 15 years.  Darlene later worked both as a Chiropractic Assistant for Dr. Whealy Chiropractic and as a cook for Park Hill Lanes for 20 years in Anthony, Kansas.  She was united in marriage to James H. Hunt on January 26, 2005 at Whiteville, Tennessee.  Darlene was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Prince Of Peace Parish in Great Bend, Kansas.  She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, James H. Hunt of Great Bend, Kansas; three sons:  Tommy (and his wife, Shirley) Tomlinson of Inman, Kansas, Jake (and his wife, Kathy) Tomlinson of La Crosse, Kansas, and Michael Riedel of Great Bend, Kansas; three daughters:  Marcketta (and her husband, Larry) Gates of Erie, Kansas, Beverly Seachris of Anthony, Kansas, and Cindy (and her husband, Bob) Ash of Anthony, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers:  Ronald (and his wife, Nila) Boese of Alexander, Kansas and Galen (and his wife, Mary Ann) Boese of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters:  Lenora Stelter of Plainville, Kansas and Charline Lax of Whiteville, Tennessee. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law (Doug Seachris), one great-granddaughter (Abigail Seachris), two brothers, and one sister.

According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen.  There will be no viewing or services at this time. Francisco DeJesus Adame, age 77 years of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on Saturday evening, June 27, 2015 at Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend, Kansas.  He was born on August 17, 1937 at Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Francisco Adame Flores and Rosalia Rey.  Francisco was united in marriage to Librada Tavarez Carrasco on May 25, 1962 at Rancho El Tubo Manuel Benavidez, Mexico.  He farmed for much of his life, and enjoyed raising cattle.  He also worked in a grocery store for many years and loved to cook, and was particularly known for preparing delicious authentic Mexican food every Sunday to serve to family and friends.  He came to Great Bend, Kansas with his family in 1998, where he worked for Marmie Motors as a custodian and groundskeeper.  Francisco was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Librada Tavarez de Adame of Great Bend, Kansas; three sons:  Oscar Adame of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Carlos and Chris Adame, both of Great Bend, Kansas; two daughters:  Sandra and Jasmine Adame, both of Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; two brothers:  Roman Adame of Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico and Guadalupe Adame of Aguacana, Chihuahua, Mexico; one sister, Mercedez Adame of San Salvador, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Francisco was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Gerardo Adame), one daughter (Teresa Adame), five brothers (Estasnislao, Manuel, Martin, Cornelio, and Jesus Adame), and three sisters (Fransiska, Tamara, and Jaaquina Adame).

            Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kansas with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. MCKINNEY, Texas — Kimberly Dawn Burkhart died at her home in McKinney, Texas, on May 13, 2015. Born April 4, 1969, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Cliff and Barbara Burkhart. She was employed by American Airlines as an International flight attendant. She served as an MP in the United States Army and was active in Desert Storm.
She is survived by her parents; a son Tristen; brothers Kerry (Lisa) Burkhart and family, and Korey (Alyson) Burkhart and family; uncles, Jim Edwards and family, Dean Edwards and family, and Scott Edwards and sons Austin and Hunter; aunt Denise Schmitt and family; and many friends and coworkers, including her bestie Diana Dawson. She was preceded in death by her fiancé, the love of her life, Steve Brown; cousin Scott Edwards; and grandparents Jim and Ann Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 29, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Kim was an animal activist whose passion led to fostering rescued dogs. Connie Lynne (Hoch) Hoopingarner

Connie Lynne (Hoch) Hoopingarner, 72, passed away on June 22, 2015 at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse, KS.
She was born on August 24, 1942 to O.C. (‘Poss’) and Esther (Keenan) Hoch. She graduated from Hoisington High School in 1960 and went on to earn her Dental Hygiene Degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City. She worked as a Dental Hygienist until her retirement in 2002.

She married Larry Dwight Hoopingarner on February 29, 1964 in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in Manter, KS. Connie became an EMT and was active in St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, including being a member of the Altar Society. She was an avid gardener and always had a large garden and was a known animal lover. It wasn’t unusual for ‘stray’ animals to show up on the family doorstep, as everyone knew Connie would take them in. In 1993 Larry and Connie moved to Lake Ozark, MO. Upon Larry’s death in 2010 she moved to Otis, KS.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, KS.

Larry and Connie raised six children: Larry A. Hoopingarner, Kansas City, KS, Lori Rahjes (husband, Ken), Elwood, NE, Lindsay Hoopingarner (wife, Traci) Linwood, KS, Lance Hoopingarner (wife, Brenda), Otis, KS, Lyle Hoopingarner, San Francisco, CA, and Lisa Compton, Macks Creek, MO.

In addition to her children, Connie is survived by brothers; Don (Dick) Hoch and wife Sharon, Pomona, KS, Bob Hoch and wife Crystal, Hoisington, KS and Pat Hoch, Hoisington, KS. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Eric Hoopingarner and Gayle Atkins, Will, Grant, Sarah and Matthew Rahjes , Ashlyn Knaus, Victoria Hoopingarner, Paige Addison, Jacob Lett and Matthew Lett, Landon, Seth and Jake Hoopingarner, Haley Hoopingarner and Alyssa Jones. As well she is survived by five great grandchildren; Xivianne Matos, Yaimary Matos, Yuniel and Dahvin Hoopingarner and Dahlia Knaus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dwight Hoopingarner, parents, O.C. and Esther Hoch, and brother, Jon Hoch.

Vigil with Rosary will be 7 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, celebrated by Fathers Anselm Eke and Ultan Murphy.
