Abigail Rose Marie Richardson, was born January 26, 2015, and passed on to soon, on January 31, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She leaves behind her parents, Thomas Edwin Lee, of St. John, and Kathleen Rose Richardson of Great Bend; a brother, Kevin Richardson of the home; grandparents, Janice and Daniel Lauber of Great Bend, Robert Scott and July Lee of Marksville, LA; great grandfather, Carl Lee Bryant of Hoisington; great aunt and uncle; Louann and Lawrence Clark of Hoisington; four uncles and five aunts.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Albert Richardson, grandmother, Patricia Ann Wood Lee and a great grandmother, Rose Marie Bryant.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Burial will be in Hoisington City Cemetery. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Darrell L. Revell

Dateline: Overbrook, Kansas

Darrell L. Revell of Overbrook, Kansas, age 61, passed away on January 31, 2015, at his home in rural Overbrook, Kansas. While his childhood days were spent in Great Bend, Kansas, he lived most of his adult life in the Topeka area. Darrell was born on January 29, 1954, at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Hospital in Limestone, Maine. Darrell was born the oldest of three children to Eloise C. (Bryant) Jones and Cleo O. Revell, Jr., and had two brothers, Michael R. Revell, from Yukon, Oklahoma, and Ronald L. Revell, of Plano, Texas. Darrell was married to Michele E. Schwartzkopf Revell for 21 years, until her passing from cancer on October 06, 1995. He then married Jean Rochelle Revell in 1997 until 2004. Michele and Darrell had three children, Heather E. Stout (husband, Micha Stout, and son, Preston), Randee R. Revell (husband, Evan Gitomer), and Tyson L. Revell (wife, Katie Hook Revell, and son, William). Darrell graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972, the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1976, and later earned his MBA from Washburn University in 1994. His primary employers were and the Kansas Department of Labor from 1978-1984 and Collective Brands (formerly Payless Shoe Source) from 1984-2007.

Darrell was known as a person who loved his family, played with his family, and enjoyed time with his family. To celebrate a life lived well, a memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS, 66614, (785)271-0808, Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Neil Buono. Family visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. A private graveside service will be held at a later date, at Great Bend Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (POP) or Kansas University Cancer Center (KUCC) or University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) or to a charity of choice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS, 67530.

Robert L. Best

Larned – Robert (Bob) L. Best, 84, passed away January 31, 2015 at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born December 9, 1930 at Garfield, the son of Clarence and Sylvia Olive Milhon Best. A lifetime area resident he was the outside district man for the Kansas Power and Light Company.

He attended the First United Methodist Church, Larned. He was a member of the Optimist Club, Larned and DeMolay International, Lewis.

On January 1, 1951, he married Virginia Belcher in Lewis. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Mike (Libby) Best, Lawrence; a daughter, Tracey (Mike) Reynolds, Larned; a sister, Jean Titus, Lewis; five grandchildren, Tiffany Eaves, Courtney Smith, Lindsay Nuss, Mark Best, Sarah Kohls and seven great grandchildren, Madelyn Eaves, Cecilia Eaves, Ryker Smith, Amelia Nuss, Mason Best, Grayson Kohls and Hannah Kohls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Best and a brother, Clarence Best Jr.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Inurnment will be at the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

JoAnna Mae Unruh

Larned – JoAnna (Jody) Mae Unruh, 83, passed away January 29, 2015, at the Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.

She was born May 10, 1931 in Great Bend, the daughter of Otto Joseph and Helen Marie Stejskal Folkerts. A longtime area resident, she was a teacher.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, past member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as a counselor, girl’s for the State American Legion program and was the county chairman for the Republican Party, all of Larned. She also was on the state of Kansas Hospice Board.

On January 17, 1950, she married Junior Chester Unruh in Albert. He passed away November 20, 2010.

Survivors include: a son, Joe Don Unruh, La Crosse; two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Folkerts.

Cremation has taken place and services may be held at a later date.

Carolyn B. Mead

Larned – Carolyn B. Mead, 73, passed away January 28, 2015, at her home in Larned. She was born March 13, 1941 at Great Bend, the daughter of Thaine and Ruby Walker Beamer. A lifetime area resident, she was a Registered Nurse at the Larned State Hospital.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and Eastern Star, both of Larned.

On June 21, 1959, she married Richard Mead in Larned. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Duane Mead and Stephen Ray Mead, both of Larned; three daughters, Tammy (Eugene) Newfield, Peabody, Lisa (Rick) DeCoudres, Larned, Shari (Shawn) Mardis, Preston; two borthers, Jerry (Sue) Beamer, Lago Vista, Texas, Larry (Frankie) Beamer, Wichita; a sister, Janice (Tom) Fisher, Larned; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with James Underwood presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

Gloria had been a kitchen supervisor at JJA Corrections in Larned, KS, where she received the “Employee of the Year” in 2014. She was loved and respected by friends, family, and co-workers.
Gloria enjoyed cooking and baking, being very passionate in sharing her gift with those she loved and cared for.

Charles had been married to Tonnie Diane (Coldwater), and to this union were Char Hoffsmith Hekele and husband Beau of Odin, KS, Cindy Hoffsmith Sandy and husband Billy of Great Bend, and step daughter Donna Hilton and her companion Mike Ramey of Odin.
Other survivors include Russell Broughman and wife Melissa of Wichita.

A Great Bend resident the past year and a half, living in Denver, Colo. for fifty years, Mr. Zecha was an auto mechanic for Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1990. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend. He was a fine example of charity to almost everyone he met, befriending numerous persons in need throughout his life. He was an animal lover, especially dogs.
