Peggy J. Thompson

Larned – Peggy J. Thompson, 61, passed away January 19, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, Wichita.

She was born July 6, 1953, in Hoisington, the daughter of John H. and Marjorie Wagner Niewald. A longtime area resident, she worked at the Larned State Hospital for 23 ½ years as a LMHT.

She was a member of the Church Of Christ and the ladies group, both of Larned.

On December 17, 1983, she married Kelly Thompson. They later divorced.

Survivors include: her mother; a son, Mat Thompson and significant other Tori Perez, Larned; a daughter, Kelsi (Jerry) Carmichael, Great Bend; a grandson, Tucker Thompson, Kinlsey/Larned; a step grandson, Alex Fulls, Kinsley and Aunt Jo Ann (Forrest) Edwards, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Niewald and her father.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Leroy Lyon presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Lone Star Cemetery, Bison.

He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight, League of Postmasters, NARFE, Rural Water District Board for twelve years. He was a member of the Army Reserves. He enjoyed visiting with friends, going to his grandchildren’s events.

A Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1964, coming from rural Susank, Kansas, Mr. Maier worked for Producers Gas Co, retiring in 1976. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II.

Mr. Maier was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and pheasant, dove and rabbit hunting.

He married Kay Ellen Dorfshaffer August 24, 1957 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kan.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mr. Maneth worked for various retail firms around Great Bend as a counter parts man, retiring from Great Bend Farm Equipment in 1996. He was a United States Army veteran.

Mr. Maneth was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served as lector and on the Vocations Commission, Knights of Columbus Council #862, American Legion Argonne Post 180, B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1127, was past member and chairman of the Great Bend Tree Board, and Dominican Sisters Associate. He volunteered for RSVP and EARS and was a volunteer escort at Central Kansas Medical Center.

Troy Dean Davis

Larned – Troy Dean Davis, 43, passed away January 16, 2015 at his home, Larned.

He was born January 3, 1972 in Great Bend, Kansas; the son of Jerrold Dale and Sheryl Lynn Suchy Davis. A lifetime area resident, he was a Service Technician at Harper Camper Land in Great Bend.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and spending time with his family.

Troy and Paula were together for 16 years, then on November 13, 2007 he married Paula Ann Smith in Pawnee Rock. She survives.

Survivors include; his father, his wife Paula, Larned; a son, Troy (T.J.) Davis, Great Bend; a daughter, Audrie Davis, Great Bend; a brother, J.D. Davis, Iowa; a sister, Tina Jones, Washington, a grandson, Austin Flores and three step-children

He was preceded in death by; his mother.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned with Father Warren Stecklein presiding.
