Mr. Crouse was a long-time Great Bend, Kansas resident, also living in Nashua, New Hampshire.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a sports enthusiast and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs.

She married her high school sweetheart, John R. Hiss October 29, 1944 at Great Bend, Kansas.  He died August 4, 2005.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Hiss was a homemaker and also worked at the Great Bend Tribune during World War II. She attended Washburn University.

Mrs. Hiss was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Presbyterian Women, taught Sunday School and served as an elder. She was also a member Order of Eastern Star Golden Sheaf Chapter, and was a Youth Friend at Riley Elementary School.

Darlene M. Creacy, age 80 years, lifelong Great Bend, Kansas resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 16, 2014 at Leisure Homestead Care Center at St. John, Kansas. Darlene was born on July 9, 1934 at Great Bend, Kansas to Ira and Inez (Davis) Thomason, and attended school in Great Bend. She worked as a cook in several area restaurants, including at the Jayhawk Cafe, the Highland Hotel, and Holiday Inn, and was cook and former owner of the Zarah Cafe in Great Bend for many years. Darlene coordinated and cooked for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Great Bend for 17 years, and also enjoyed reading, singing karaoke, and cake decorating. She loved going to church at First Street Church of God in Hoisington, Kansas, where she was a member.

Survivors include two sons: Edward W. (and his wife, Pat) Creacy of Wichita, Kansas and Jay R. Creacy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters: Linda J. Creacy and Brenda (and her husband, Randy) Wetzel, all of Great Bend, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Cathy Trauer of Denver, Colorado; many nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by one granddaughter (Michelle Price), two brothers (Jay R. and Harold “Sonny” Thomason), and four sisters (Mary Ward, Elizabeth Taylor, Betty Cape, and Nona “Mildred” Ross).

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, Kansas with Reverend Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be in the Great Bend City Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend. Garfield – George E. Youngers, 88, passed away December 15, 2014.

He was born December 11, 1926 in Willowdale, Kansas; the son of William and Alice Smith Youngers. He was engaged in farming all of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Larned and was an active member of the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Seward.

On May 18, 1949 he married Evelyn Marx in Ost, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include; five sons, Ed and wife Jane, Garfield, Melvin and wife Linda, Moses Lake, Washington; Loren and wife Carolyn, La Veta, Colorado, Alan, Overland Park, and Dennis and wife Danyelle, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, six daughters, Carol Ross and husband Bruce, Torrington, Wyoming, Janet Scheuerman and husband Gary, Garden City, Lora Youngers, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lisa Egan and husband Lance, Derby, Myrma Hamm and husband Jim, Tampa, and Denise Warren and husband Steve, Wright; thirty three grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, two brothers, Lester and Fritz; a daughter, Doreen Amon; a granddaughter, Anne Marie Youngers and a great grandson, Mason Shroyer.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Seward with Father Rene Guesnier presiding. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Willowdale, Kansas.

Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Great Bend, and enjoyed reading and sewing.

Helen Margaret (Penka) Kalina, daughter of Emil and Hedwig (Heger) Penka, died December 11, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse. She was born December 9, 1924, at Redwing, Kansas. She married Joseph J. Kalina at O’Neill, Nebr. on October 10, 1950. He died May 29, 1980.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at Hoisington, Ks. and the St. John Altar Society of Hoisington. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 25 years at O’Neill, NE. She had been a housekeeper for the priests for over 15 years and was a retired homemaker.
Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be announced at a later date, with inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, O’Neill, NE. Memorials are to be to St. John the Evangelist Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.

Kenneth was an Ellinwood High School graduate.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mr. Klepper was a mechanic for Allied Cementing, retiring in 1993.

Kenneth was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council 862, both of Great Bend.  He also spent his past time with the “lunch bunch” and his coffee group at Burger King.

He was born February 6, 1942 at Kinsley; the son of Cirilo Lopez and Josefa Marquez Lemuz. A longtime area resident; he was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Larned State Hospital.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned.

Survivors include; three sons, Jesse Jr., Salina, Mike, and Randy both of Larned; three brothers, Tony, Larned, Robert, Rozel and Isaac, Larned; five sisters, Angela Rayla, Great Bend, Ramona Palleschi, Winthrop, Maine, Mary Del Hierro, Larned, Louise Pierce and Helen Asher, both of Great Bend; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; three brothers, Lawrence, Frank and Gonsalo (Steve).

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Vigil Service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
