Mr. Dunlap was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1961 coming from McCook, Nebraska.

He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of First Assembly of God, Great Bend.

Joan C. Roberts

Larned- Joan C. Roberts, 70, passed away September 27, 2014 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
She was born August 3, 1944 in San Pedro, CA the daughter of Robert and Beatrice Connel Boyd. Moving from California on July 4, 1996 to Larned, she was a retired teacher’s aid.

She was of the Christian faith and loved playing online bingo.

On December 31, 1966 she married Glenn Roberts at Modesto, CA. He survives.

Other Survivors include, a son Bruce Reynolds, Larned; three daughters, Barbara Gillett, St. John, Belinda Rost, Hulbert, OK., Beatrice Jacobs, Larned; a brother, Robert Boyd, CA. and a sister, Vera Courtroul, Turlock, CA; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.

Carl R. McKittrick

Larned – Carl R. McKittrick, 73, passed away September 23, 2014 at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born December 27, 1940, in Cimarron, the son of Elmer P. and Vera E. Ebersole McKittrick. A longtime area resident, he was a registered nurse.

He was a member of the Church of Nazarene and the Fort Larned Lions Club, both of Larned.

On March 31, 1979, he married Kathleen M. Ochs in Hoisington. She passed away April 5, 2003.

Survivors include: a sister, Margaret Gerber, Dodge City and also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell McKittrick.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, at the Church of Nazarene, Larned with Pastor Leroy Lyon presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family inurnment following the service.

Paul J. Heueisen, age 84 years, former longtime Great Bend, Kansas resident, passed away at Protection Valley Manor in Protection, Kansas on September 19, 2014. Paul was born on May 23, 1930 at Lancaster, California to Louis Steven and Margaret Mary (Murray) Heueisen. He moved to Great Bend with his family in 1936, and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1945. Paul worked as a Custodian for various businesses in the Great Bend area, and enjoyed reading. He was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.

Survivors include a cousin, Mary Conley of Lomita, California. Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 29, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend, Kansas with Father Don Bedore officiating. Anna Lavonne Postlethwaite

Name of Deceased: Anna Lavonne Postlethwaite

Anna Lavonne Postlethwaite, aged97 years, 3 months and 19 days, died September 24, 2014 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover, Kansas. She was born June 5, 1917 at Barton County, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph L. & Eva R. (Ward) Ward.

Mrs. Postlethwaite grew up on farms in the Seward and St. John, Kan., area. She married John L. Postlethwaite, Jr. July 20, 1941 at Great Bend, Kansas.  He died October 21, 2005. Residing in Great Bend following their marriage, she was not only a devoted wife, but also was a secretary and bookkeeper for Culligan Water Conditioning in Great Bend, for forty-two years.

She and her husband, John, were co-founders of the First Church of God, along with brother Bill and sister Ruby Wilburn, with the first church meeting in the Postlethwaite home in January 1950.  Anna served her Lord in the church, not only as a co-founder, but as secretary-treasurer for forty years, president of the women’s group, youth sponsor, janitor, Sunday School teacher, organist and pianist, and various other duties.  She loved quilting with the church group.  She will be sorely missed not only by her family, but as a patient listener and fellow worker for Jesus Christ.

Survivors include one brother, Harold R. Ward and his wife Jolene of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two nieces, Brenda Fry of Wichita, KS, and Chana Scantlin of Oklahoma City, OK; and two nephews, Scott Ward of St. John, KS and Brett Ward of St. John, KS.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Wesley and Nina Marie Ward.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at First Church of God in Great Bend, with the Reverends Tom Swain and Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home. Married Irene C. Deutsch November 21, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rural Susank, KS.
Harry was a third generation farmer in northern Barton County. He also worked as a mechanic for the Dodge and Plymouth Dealership in Russell, and as an oil field pumper for Vess Oil and other various local oil companies.
Mr. Bitter was a lifetime Barton County resident.
He was a former member of the St. John Lutheran Church and a current member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, He taught Sunday School for 60 years at both St. John and Concordia Lutheran Churches. He also served as an elder, a youth leader and served on many other boards within the churches.
Harry was employed part time for the Union Township Board operating the road grader, and also serving on the Union Township Board. He was also as a probation counselor for Barton County.

Garfield – Leota M. Price, 97, passed away September 21, 2014, at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born March 31, 1917, in Haviland, the daughter of Lindsey and Olive Grimes, a longtime area resident she was a Licensed Mental Health Technician for the Larned State Hospital.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Senior Companion, both of Larned.

On August 27, 1952, she married Wesley H. Price in Garfield. He passed away September 28, 1984.

Survivors include: Several nieces and nephews and a cousin, M.D. Grimes, Larned.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Grimes and a sister, Lora Sturgeon.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, with Rev. Mark Lovett Presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

Irene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, where she was an avid quilter, and member of PLCW.  Irene also took great pride in cleaning the Church for eight years.  She was also a member of the Albert Senior Citizen group and the Garfield Merry Matrons.
