Mrs. Dannebohm was a long time Ellinwood, KS resident and a member of First Baptist Church, Ellinwood, the Odin Saddle Club, and was an avid bowler. Wanda had been a waitress for various area restaurants and a secretary for Silica Grain.

FRANCIS D. HUFFMAN

Francis D. Huffman, age 70 years, longtime Great Bend, Kansas resident, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his Great Bend home. Francis was born on January 25, 1944 at Anaconda, Montana to Marvin J. and Eva V. (McCart) Huffman. He served as a cook in the US Army in his early years. Francis was united in marriage to Laura A. Phillips on June 18, 1984 at Great Bend, Kansas. He worked on bridge construction prior to his retirement, and in his later years he enjoyed going to Ampride and drinking soda with his many friends. Francis had a true passion for animals, especially “Baby Girl” Chihuahua.

Survivors include one step-son: Charles H. (and his wife, Tammy) Kepford of Wichita, Kansas; three step-daughters: Rita K. Rowe of Great Bend, Kansas, Karen D. Kepford of Larned, Kansas, and Laura L. Kepford of Oceanside, California; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jeremiah “Jerry” (and his wife, Mary) Huffman of Great Bend, Kansas. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura A. Huffman on December 1, 2001; and one step-daughter, Debbie S. Kepford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, Kansas with Pastor Ken E. Gray officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery north of Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, Kansas. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II in Iwo Jima.

He was a member of American Legion Argonne Post 180, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111, and was a life member of Barton County Historical Society, where he was active in restoring tractors and creating various artwork and other projects through the years.
