Karlene K. Meckfessel

Larned – Karlene K. Meckfessel, 68, passed away April 1, 2014 at her home, Larned.

She was born July 8, 1945 in Great Bend, the daughter of George P. Jr. and Helen D. Dipman Seeman. A lifetime area resident, she was retired from being the Postmaster in Garfield.

She was of the Christian faith. She was a Fort Hays State University Alumni Association member, volunteered at the Larned Welcome Inn, and was most recently employed at the Pawnee County Learning Center.

Survivors include: a son Ryan and fiancé Janessa Akin, Garfield; a daughter Karisa Stuchlik and husband Zach, Hooker, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Eli and Erin Mae Stuchlik; and two brothers, George Seeman III and wife Connie and Winston Seeman and wife Susie all of Larned.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.

NOEMI  R.  “MIMI”  SANCHEZ 

            Noemi R. “Mimi” Sanchez, age 59 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on Friday evening, March 28, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Noemi was born on June 22, 1954 at McAllen, Texas to Pedro and Teresa (Rosales) Ramos.  She was united in marriage to Israel“Lalo” Sanchez on March 8, 1980 at McAllen, Texas, and the couple came to Great Bend, Kansas in October of 1986.  Noemi enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

            Survivors include her husband, Israel “Lalo” Sanchez of Great Bend, Kansas; one son, Francisco “Frank” Sanchez of Great Bend, Kansas; one daughter, Monica Ybeth (and her husband, Victor Manuel) Galvez of Great Bend Kansas; three grandchildren:  Jessica Yvette Galvez, Victor Alejandro “Alex” Galvez, and Victor Manuel “Trey” Galvez, Jr.; two brothers:  Arcadio Ramos of Rosenburg, Texas and Moises Ramos of Mission, Texas; many nieces and nephews. Noemi was preceded in death by her parents.

Gary R. Dreiling

Obit PhotoGary R. Dreiling, age 63, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born March 21, 1951 at Great Bend, Kansas the son of Rudolph and Anna (Birzer) Dreiling.

Gary, a lifelong area resident, graduated from Odin High School. Upon graduating high school, he was employed by Kansas Brick and Tile for several years. He was currently employed by Essex for the past thirty years and also helped out on the family farm during his spare time. On January 26, 1974 he married Sharon Reif at Odin, Kansas. Mr. Dreiling was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, and Knights of Columbus in Odin. He enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses, tinkering with things, and riding his golf cart.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Dreiling, of the home; his mother, Anna Dreiling of Odin; four daughters, Shelli Dreiling and her significant other, Ron VanNess of Hoisington; Rebecca Johnson and husband Timothy of Salina, Kansas; Tracie Rubio and husband Richard of Hoisington, and Kimberlie Demel of Hoisington; three brothers, Ronnie Dreiling and wife Carol of Basehor, Kansas; Kenny Dreiling and wife Juanita of Great Bend, and Dennis Dreiling and wife Jane of Claflin, Kansas; seven sisters, Ann Ellis of Rozel, Kansas; Judy Jenisch and husband Jerry of Great Bend, Linda Regnier and husband Chuck of Belton, Missouri; Connie French and husband Pat of LaPort, Indiana; Sharon Armbrister and husband Clarence of Bel Aire, Kansas; Shirley Sanders and husband Keith of Turpin, Oklahoma; and Cindy Strube and husband Kevin of Hays, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, Colby VanNess, Kyler Dreiling, Kinley VanNess, Zoie Johnson, Zylie Johnson, Zurie Johnson, Alexis Rubio, Zachary Rubio, Nicolas Rubio, Alaina Rubio, Kole Dove, and Gage Demel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter, Victoria Dreiling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Anselm Eke as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, March 31, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service and Knights of Columbus rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Church Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible Study, Peace Lutheran Church Women, and was the first woman to serve on the Co-op Board.

Mr. Tillery was a long-time Great Bend, Kansas resident.

He enjoyed tending livestock, served on the Kansas Highway Patrol, was an avid horse trainer and farrier and enjoyed participating in rodeos.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend. She enjoyed painting Ukranian eggs and china, was a proud Head Start volunteer and enjoyed reading to children at Great Bend Public Library.
