Married Leon F. Sanders September 6, 1958 at Great Bend, Kansas.  He died January 3, 1997. She then married Paul D. Hazen January 19, 2002 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died December 20, 2012.

She was Deli Queen for Dillons until her retirement.

Mrs. Hazen was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1975 coming from Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society, life VFW Auxiliary, and Women’s Bible Study Group. She loved bingo, slot machines, and Kansas City Chiefs football.

He married Michelle Hoover on October 9, 2009 in Wichita.  She survives.  He worked for Pierson Construction for twelve years.  He was a Great Bend resident for all but the last 13 years in which he resided in Park City.  BJ was a Harley Davidson rider and enjoyed any get together with family and friends. 

SURVIVORS

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Anthony and step-daughter Sylvia Collier of the home; two sons, Bill Jr., Wichita, Justin (Janet), Wichita; daughter Angela (Rob) Stith, Colleyville, TX; two step-sons, Brice Collier, ND; Isaiah Mohr, SC; step-daughter Chrystal (Jason) Welch, Wichita and thirteen grandchildren,.  He is also survived by five sisters, LeeNora (PeeWee) Danield, Diana (John) Howard, Lana Slack, Ramona Kay (Joe) Tracy all of Great Bend , Sandra (Robin) Orr, Denton, TX and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.

He was a truck driver for most of his life, his last employment was with Griffin Seed, Nickerson, KS.

Mr. Ravenstien was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 2001 coming from Nickerson, Kansas.

He was a United States Army veteran.

Carol (Willis) Ellis

pCarol (Willis) Ellis, 76, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away on January 14, 2014.

She was born on July 17, 1937, in Oregon County, Missouri, the daughter of Harry and Janet Orr Willis.

Carol loved her family. She held many positions throughout her life, but nothing would ever replace her role as wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Larned, Kansas for the past 45 years. Carol held many offices over the years. She was active with the American Red Cross teaching CPR and First Aid classes in Pawnee County Kansas.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Ellis, Belgrade, Montana; a son, Donald Jr. (Susan) Youngsville, LA, Susie Scott, Lake Charles, LA; LeAnna Unruh, Pawnee Rock, KS; and Stacey Ellis (Scott), Belgrade, MT; Seven (7) grandchildren, Stephen Ellis(Dawn), Shannon Ellis, Grant Unruh, Shawn “Odie” Unruh(Nicole), Marci Unruh, Marcus Allen and Sadie Glaude, five (5) great grandchildren, Madeline, Emily, Brogan, Tristian and Dahvon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with a special friend Kathy Fitch whom she affectionately referred to as her other daughter. Carol was also a surrogate mother/grandmother to many children over the years.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

He was a 1955 graduate of Hoisington High School.

He married Connie Lou Gilmore October 8, 1960 at Hoisington, Kansas.  A Great Bend resident most of his life, coming from Susank and Milberger, he was owner and operator of Rube’s, Inc., the local Trane and GE dealer for more than fifty years.

Mr. Rube was a United States Navy veteran.  

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Kopke Scholarship committee; Golden Belt Model Railroad Club; Golden Belt Community Concert Association; Optimist Club of Great Bend, where he was former secretary and treasurer and also on the scholarship committee; Life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111; American Legion Argonne Post 180; Vintage Wheels Car Club; Refrigeration Service Engineers Society; North American Technician Excellence, and was a former Camp Fire Board member. He loved gardening, painting, and model trains and was an avid fan of Great Bend Panther and Wilson Dragon athletics.

Ellinwood- Thomas J. (Jack) Dunn, 78, died January, 9, 2014, at his home in Abilene, KS 

He was born May 8, 1935 in Hanston, the son of Thomas A. and Lillian Schecter Dunn. He was a Machinist. 

He was a member of N.R.A. and was also of the Christian faith.

On September 26, 1954, he married Barbara J. Stairrett in Jetmore KS. She passed away September 6, 2013

Survivors Include: one son, Michael Dunn, Ellinwood; three daughters, Karla Dunn and partner Vic Garcia, Great Bend, Pamela Dunn and partner Ron Sarno, Council Grove, and Debra Blunden and Husband Wayne, Abilene; two sisters, Wanda Berger, Jetmore, and Connie Salmans, Dodge City; Nine Grandchildren and Twelve Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a Brother, Wayne Dunn

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Pastor Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be at the Fairmount Cemetery following the service.

Margaret Louise Edwards

Bison – Margaret Louise Edwards, 82 passed away January 11, 2014 at the Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born April 19, 1931 in Oak Hill, Kansas; the daughter of Clarence and Sara Ware Folsom. A lifetime area resident of both Larned and Bison, she was a farm wife, a bookkeeper at the Bison COOP and the secretary at the Larned Jr. High School. 

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bison.

In 1949 she married Wayne Deckert at Great Bend. He passed away October 6, 1968. In 1971 she married Everett O. (Peck) Edwards at Bison. He passed away June 3, 2011.

Survivors include; her children, Lynette Kornelson and husband Paul, Hutchinson, Richard Deckert and wife Andrea, Larned, Jan Nuss and husband Steve, Plains and Scott Edwards and wife Norma, Bison; a brother, Ora Folsom and wife Judy, Great Bend; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; a brother, Bob Folsom.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Kathy Bannister presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
