*Carol Joan Lundquist passed away October 5, 2013, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, KS, in much of the same manner in which she was born. She died with strength, grace, and dignity. Carol was born March 27, 1927 at her aunt’s home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Carl John & Rose Caroline (Blum) Pohlman, with a remote chance of survival. Born two months prematurely, Carol was placed in an improvised shoe box incubator by her aunt and father, after the doctor felt there was no hope of survival.

Carol was a Nurse’s Aide and ward clerk, being employed at Central Kansas Medical Center for 20 years. After her retirement she worked part time for Wal-Mart.

Currently a Chemistry Instructor at Barton Community College, Mr. Causey was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 2007coming from Tennessee. He had previously taught at the University of Memphis and Harding Academy of Memphis. Prior to that, he had worked for FedEx Express as an Aircraft Market Specialist and a Crew Resource Specialist and Analyst.

A member of Church of Christ, Great Bend, Guy Causey had a strong faith in his church and his students. He accompanied youth from his church to Ghana several times on mission trips. He had a profound spiritual relationship with his God and a deep commitment to follow in the Lord’s footsteps of serving mankind. Guy also enjoyed exercising, biking, and hiking. He was a dedicated and well respected faculty member of Barton Community College. Guy was able to teach Chemistry in a way that reached all his students. Guy’s immediate family was his beloved Labradors, Tal and Barney and his cat, Midnight. He treated them like his children, because they were. He leaves behind many colleagues and friends that remember humorous and enlightening stories of his life experiences. Guy had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by many.
