Married Lane Ikenberry April 4, 1998 outside Lawrence, KS, under the tallest tree in Kansas.
She was a professor of painting and drawing at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA.
Sandy was a New Orleans, Louisiana resident since 1996, coming from Lawrence, Kansas.
She was a talented artist throughout her life, creating paintings, sculptures, ceramics, as well as small hand-made
objects as gifts for friends and family. She had a tremendous love for animals, and gave a home to many beloved
rescue animals or strays that were lucky enough to find her. She supported numerous causes including Plan USA,
SPCA, Southern Poverty Law Center, and Alzheimer’s Research.

Frank M. Lemuz

Larned – Frank M. Lemuz, 61, died January 3, 2013, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. 

He was born February 8, 1951, at Larned, the son of Cirilo and Josefa Marquez Lemuz. A lifetime area resident he was a retired LMHT from the Larned State Hospital. 

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion, both of Larned. 

Survivors include: two sons, Jason, Larned, Adrian,Great Bend; two daughters, Theresa Lemuz, Larned, Melanie Lemuz,Northglenn, Colorado; six brothers, Lawrence, Topeka, Tony, Jesse, Isaac, Steven, all of Larned, Robert, Rozel; five sisters, Ramona Palleschi, Winthrop, Maine, Angela Rayla, Mary Del Hierro, Louise Pierce, Helen Asher, all of Great Bend; 12 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Andres, Luis and Luciano Lemuz. 

Vigil will be at 7p.m.Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father John Strasser presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

Dennis R. Milhon

Great Bend – Dennis R. Milhon, 67, died January 2, 2013, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation, Great Bend.

He was born July 30, 1945, in Hutchinson, the son of Norman Ray and Valeta B Derley Milhon. A lifetime area resident, he was a CMA and a radio station announcer for KANS. 

He was a member of the First Christian Church and a Boy Scout Leader, both of Larned and the Argonne Rebels, Great Bend. 

On June 5, 1965 he married Sue Desmo, then on November 28, 1991, he married Charlene McKenzie at Great Bend. She survives. 

Other survivors include: mother, Valeta B Milhon, Larned; a son, Darin Milhon, Larned; two daughters, Dana Voorhees, Longmont, Colorado, Darcy Orvalla, Craig, Colorado; a step son, Lowell Harp, Cheyenne, Wyoming; two brothers, Darrell Milhon, McCook, Nebraska, David Milhon, Kansas City, Missouri; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two step grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Ray Milhon and a daughter, Moureen Dyan Milhon. 

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Dan Lundgren presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

Clara May Ellis

Clara  May  Ellis

 

            Clara May Ellis, age 64 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at her Great Bend home on Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013 after an extended illness.  Clara was born on May 23, 1948 at Great Bend to Maurice and Virginia (Weathers) Roach, and was a resident of Great Bend for her entire life.  She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1965, and then graduated from Sidney’s HairdressingCollege in Hutchinson, Kansas, after which she worked as a beautician for fifteen years.  She then worked at the Great Bend Manor both as a Certified Nursing Assistant and as a private Caregiver for six years.  Clara had a passion for collecting Teddy Bears and spending time with her three grandchildren.  She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend.

            Survivors include her husband, Gary Ellis of Great Bend; two sons:  Brian and Brent (and his wife, Chastity), all of Great Bend; one daughter, Gina (and her husband, Gary) Gugins of Kinsley, Kansas; three grandchildren:  Chase, Chloe, and Chelsi Ellis; one brother, Kenneth Roach of Great Bend; and one sister, Marie (and her husband, Bill) Stanley of Great Bend.  Clara was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (William and Allan Roach), and her twin sister, Teresa Kay Murray on January 2, 2011.

Larned – Jewell H. Wood Graf, 90, died December 27, 2012, at the Larned Healthcare Center, Larned. 

She was born August 10, 1922, at Augusta, the daughter of Bryan and Janey Lackey Chance. She was a homemaker. 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Larned. 

On October 30, 1944, she married Albert Wood at Tonopah, Nevada. He died July 26, 1978. In Nov. 1994 she married Edwin Graf, he died Aug. 19, 2010. 

Survivors include: a daughter, Kim Bennett and husband Richard, Larned; three step-sons, David Graf, Kansas City, Mike Graf, Hays and Jim Graf, Hutchinson; one step-daughter, Janice Burkhead, Kansas City; two grandsons, Matthew and wife Maria Bennett, Garden City and Brent Bennett and fiancé Haleigh Turner, Larned; five great grandchildren, Zachary, Koby, Kyler, Brady and Tristin and nieces and nephews, Lisa Cook, Topeka, Shannon Martinez, Hutchinson, Barry Mustoe, Amarillo, TX and Ralph Mustoe, Illinois.
