Gladys married Woodrow Wilson Woodrow October 29, 1938, in Russell, KS. They were later divorced, but remained
very close.
Ms. Woodrow was a lifetime Great Bend, Kansas resident, enjoying embroidery and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of
Fortune.
During WW II, Gladys processed eggs for the local canary. She was later employed as a private nurse for Wilbur
Duckwall and performed secretarial work for several local law offices. She was most recently employed as an LPN
working for Larned State Hospital.

OBITUARY INFORMATION

He married Betty Lee Kempke August 16, 1944 at the home of his parents at Erie, Kan. She died November 1, 1996.  He then married Helen Sanders January 19, 2001 at Great Bend, Kan., where they made their home.

He grew up in southeast Kansas, moving to Lorraine, Kan., in 1942. He and Betty first lived in Erie, and moved to Kansas City where he worked as a mechanic.  In 1945, they moved to Holyrood, Kan., where Paul was self-employed in the oil business and also worked as a licensed television repairman.  The family moved to Ellinwood in 1964 where he began working for Kaiser Francis Oil Company and later Phillips Petroleum.  He owned and operated Hazen Oil Company until his retirement in 1981.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend.

Esther  E.  Kruckenberg

 

            Esther E. Kruckenberg, age 84 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away early on Sunday morning, December 16, 2012 at the Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center inGreat Bend.  Esther was born on December 19, 1927 at Russell, Kansas to Sigmund and Ernestine (Becker) Keil.  The family moved to Great Bend in 1940, and she graduated fromGreat Bend High School in 1945.   Esther was united in marriage to Lyman L. Kruckenberg on December 15, 1946 at Larned, Kansas, and the couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary the day before her death.  Esther and Lyman continued to make their home inGreat Bend up to the time of her death.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Churchin Great Bend.  Esther worked in the laundry at the Great Bend Manor for 19 years, and she enjoyed camping at Lake Wilson and family get-togethers. 

            Survivors include her husband, Lyman L. Kruckenberg of Great Bend; one son, Martin L. (and his wife, Melinda) Kruckenberg of Buhler, Kansas; one daughter, Jennifer (and her husband, Joe) McLeland of Wichita, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; three brothers:  Melvin, Luther, and Arnold (and his wife, Arlene) Keil, all of Great Bend; one sister, Leona Crotty of Garden City, Kansas.  Esther was preceded in death by her parents, one son (Dr. Lyman “Butch” Kruckenberg Jr. in 2001), one brother (Herbert Keil), and one sister (Milda Hopper).

            Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at TrinityLutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor James A.
