Father James F. Graner

Larned – Father James F. Graner, 83, died September 10, 2012, at the Larned Healthcare Center, Larned.

 He was born September 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Carl and Marialice Ludeman Graner. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He worked for the G.M. and Republic Aviation, then went to St. Luke Seminary, at Sewanne, Tennesse. Where he was ordained an Episcopal Priest in Birmingham, Alabama 1967. Upon his retirement in 1994, he wrote several books.

 He was the Vicar of the Episcopal Church of Saints Mary and Martha of Bethany, Larned, the Holy Nativity, Kinsley and served his first two churches in Alabama. He was a member of the V.F.W., and the American Legion, Larned. In 1946, he served in the Army for two years, stationed in the Philippines.

 On April 7, 1956, he married Anne LoBianco, at Oyster Bay, New York. She survives.

 Other survivors include: a son, David Graner, Hays and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Dean and Gerry Graner.

 Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Episcopal Church of Saints Mary and Martha, Larned, with Father Mark Cowell presiding. Inurnment will be in the Christ Cathedral, Salina, at a later date. Friends may sign the register book from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family present from 6-8p.m. Thursday, at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

of Rowe Wireline Service, from 2006 to 2011, when he sold the business to Pioneer Energy, where he was district
manager.
He was a part of the First Southern Baptist Church family, Great Bend, and a member of the Oakwood Country Club and
Oilman’s Club, both of Enid.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Great Bend Garden Club. She was an avid bridge player, a sixty-year breast cancer survivor, and was active in the Reach for Recovery organization.

At the age of four, he was adopted by Lewis and Emma (Lynn) Nutting and moved to Southwest Missouri.
Married Helen Luticia Sanders March 18, 1934 at Rural Stafford County, Kansas. She died January 30, 2005.
He started farming as a teenager with a team of horses. He was a farmer and ranch foreman for W. A. Cross Ranch for
twenty-five years.
Mr. Nutting was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 2002, coming from Lewis.
He was a member of First Assembly of God, Kinsley, Kansas.
He wrote music and started writing poetry at age 95. He loved farming, ranching, being outdoors, playing pool,
dominoes, gospel music, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, antique tool collecting, mechanic work, and University of
Kansas basketball. Above all else, he loved the Lord and studying the Bible.

OBITUARY INFORMATION

 

Mr. Gerritzen was a lifetime Barton County resident. He was a 1946 graduate of Hoisington High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. Mr. Gerritzen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II from 1946 to 1948, attaining the rank of corporal.  He was especially interested in veterans’ causes like the DAV in Topeka. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, touring Cheyenne Bottoms, and all types of engineering projects.  He was a mechanical engineer at Truck Repair, followed by thirty-one years working on large and small engines at JoMax Construction Company until illness forced his retirment.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, and Eagles Aerie 646, all of Great Bend.

 

 

SURVIVORS

 

Mr. Gerritzen never married, but shared a close relationship with his cousins, Virginia Klepper of Great Bend, KS; and Gene Dressler of Wagner, SD and special JoMax friends, Pat Peschka, Mike Ingham, Randy and Terri Gorney and other co-workers. He is survived by numerous cousins.

Lois passed into the arms of her loving Lord on August 31, 2012 in Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on January 11, 1925
to James E. and Verna (Siegfried) Crain in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. She married Hugh W. Powell on January 11, 1943.

Lois loved to cook and sew for her family and serve her Lord through Christ Methodist Church in Roselle, Delaware. She
also loved to make knitted clothes for babies and children for the mission projects through the Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Survivors include one son Mark S. Powell and wife Cathy-Lynn of Gulf Cove, Florida; one daughter Carole Edwardson
and husband Larry of Great Bend, Kansas; one daughter-in-law Beth Strawbridge Powell of Jacksonville, Florida;
Grandchildren Amy Edwardson, David Edwardson, Mark Powell, Jr., Daniel Powell, and Brad Ciarcia; two great-
granddaughters, Delaney and Emma. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, one son James H. Powell and one
granddaughter Susan Edwardson.

There will be no viewing: as per her wishes cremation has taken place. Private memorial services will be held at a later time.
Inurnment will be at Philipsburg Cemetery in Pennsylvania.

Church in Murdock, Florida.
