She was a bookkeeper for Johnson Electric and Alfalfa Pellets and then worked for Ellinwood Packing for twenty-three years.

Mrs. Boor was a Great Bend, Kansas, resident since 1963 coming from Grainfield, Kansas.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society and was a PSR teacher. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Rose C. Flanders

Rose C. Flanders, 83, died May 26, 2012, at Colorado Springs, Colorado.

 

She was born September 8, 1928 at Larned, the daughter of Edward and Rebecca Crist Chlumsky.  A longtime resident of Colorado Springs, she was a retired Accountant.  One of her passions in life was her sewing and quilting that she loved to do.

In November 1946, she married O. Ray Flanders.  He died December 25, 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Steven C. Flanders, Nashville, Tennessee and Gordon E. Flanders, Arvada, Colorado, two daughters, Susan L. Flanders, Denver, Colorado and Deborah Glaeser, Highland Village, Texas, one brother, Adam Chlumsky, Larned, two sisters, Kathy Cryderman and Edra Stroud both of Salina, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Harry J. Chlumsky and one sister, JoAnn Pinkston.

Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Zook, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned.

Married Leila Jene  Burris July 29, 1938 at Augusta, Kansas.  She died July 25, 1998.

He was a teacher with his first teaching job at Manter, Kansas.  He came to Ellinwood to teach in the high school,then he  was principal for Ellinwood Junior High.  He retired from teaching and bought the H & H IGA in partnership with Nick LoBurgio.  Mr. Secrist was an Ellinwood, Kansas resident for sixty-five years coming from El Dorado, Kansas.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood; and was an active church delegate; a charter member of Ellinwood Lions Club, a former Boy Scout leader, Ellinwood Junior Chamber of Commerce, and IGA Association and was a referee for all sports across central Kansas.

Roger Allen “Butcher” Meeker

Larned – Roger Allen “Butcher” Meeker, 62, passed away May 12, 2012 at his home, Jay, Oklahoma

He was born November 12, 1949 in Larned, the son of Frank and Lucille Steadman Meeker;

He was a welder, working for Superior Boiler Works.

He was in the US Army in the Vietnam War, he was a member of the ADVA, the American Legion, the VFW and Green Country BCA Pool League member. He loved to play in the tournaments and competitions. Butcher also loved to hunt, fish, take walks in the woods, a true outdoorsman. Everyone loved his cooking; his favorite dish to cook was chili, with his own deer meat. Butcher will be dearly missed.

Survivors include; a son, Shane Meeker, Great Bend, three daughters, Tamera Wilcox and husband Steve, Salina, Jessica Milsap and Tonya Meeker both of Great Bend; two brothers, twin brother, Robert and wife Sue and John and wife Marcella, both of Hutchinson; two sisters, Judy Bettes and husband William, Eucha, Oklahoma and Cindy (Cynthia) Perez and husband Raymond, Larned, and grandchildren Devin and Joslyn Wilcox, Salina, Samantha Peoples, Branson, MO and Taylor Hommertzheim, Great Bend, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his loving dog Snowball.

Memorial graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Larned Cemetery with Pastor Ron David presiding. Military Honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Trevor Houston Greathouse

Larned – Trevor Houston Greathouse, 18, passed away May 21, 2012.

 He was born January 27, 1994 at Great Bend, the son of Randy Greathouse, and Sharon (Miller) and Ernie Boswell. A lifetime area resident, he was a student and recent graduate of Pawnee Heights High School.

He was a member of the Grace Community Church, Great Bend. His High School Academics included; STUCO V.P. Sr, STUCO Rep. Jr, Wrestling Fr., Play/Crew Fr, So; Vocal Fr, National Honor Society Sr, Academic Olympics So; Scholars’ Bowl So, Jr; Yearbook Jr, Sr; Journalism So; HOBY Delegate; Boys State; FCCLA. Trevor was awarded the American Legion Riders Scholarship, Ellis Family – Pawnee Heights Alums Scholarship, Jordaan Foundation, Inc Scholarship, Kenneth Cook Scholarship, and The Pawnee Heights Enhancement Fund Scholarship.

 Survivors include; father, Randy Greathouse, LaCrosse, mother and step-father, Sharon & Ernie Boswell, Larned, 3 brothers, Chandler Greathouse, Larned, Ernie Lee Boswell, Dodge City and Aaron Boswell of Larned, grandparents; Eddy & Carol Miller, and Barbara Sexton both of Larned and several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

 He was preceded in death by; his grandparents, Jerry Greathouse and Sue Greathouse, great grandparents, Marion and Dorothy Miller, Buster and Ola White, Aunt, Shelly Miller and a cousin Heather Greathouse.

 Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Pawnee Heights High School Gymnasium, Rozel with Pastor Jay Bouey presiding.
