She was a sales clerk for Big A Auto Parts and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Scheck was a Hays, Kansas, resident since 2004 coming from Great Bend, where she had resided since 1941.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella, all of Great Bend. She was a hospice volunteer and a foster parent to more than twenty-five children.

A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, Mrs. DeWerff was a homemaker and had worked as an appraiser for Barton County.
Shirley loved and collected antiques and dolls and appeared on the Antiques Roadshow. They were both of the
Christian Faith.

Pawnee Rock

C. Walter McCowan, 71, died April 3, 2012, at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend.

He was born June 10, 1940, in Audrain County, Missouri, the son of Junior and Nadine Burnett McCowan.  A resident of Pawnee Rock since 1983 previously of West Texas, he was owner and operator of Santa Fe Mercantile Antiques.

He served in the National Guard.

On August 15, 1997, he married Linda Stoki Burch at Larned.  She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sara Boyer, Rush, Colorado, and Dorian Frances, Pawnee Rock, two brothers, Carl Ray McCowan, Thompson, Missouri and John McCowan, Fulton, Missouri, two sisters, Rheba Ryan and Marjorie Hudson both of Centrailia, Missouri, three grandsons and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Marty Ray McCowan. 

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5851 Eisenhower, Great Bend, with Bishop Greg Perez presiding. Cremation took place.  There is no visitation.

Robert E. Yetschke and Betty Ann Bowsher were married December 27, 1946 at Great Bend, Kansas.  He was a floor covering installer, owning Yetschke Floor Service. She worked for Kansas Power and Light, Co. as a Division Secretary for thirty years.

He served during World War II serving with the 757th Tank Battalion in the United States Army. 

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and KPL Retirees Club, all of Great Bend.
