Pairlee Ann Lewis

            Pairlee Ann Lewis, age 58 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on Saturday morning, March 17, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.  Pairlee was born on March 29, 1953 at Jefferson City, Missouri to Freddrick Raymond and Elizabeth (Search) Moon.  She attended school in Jefferson City, and was united in marriage to Marvin A. Lewis on June 7, 1977 at Great Bend.  Pairlee formerly worked at J.J. Distributors and K-Bob Steakhouse in Great Bend, but spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, where she loved to crochet, raised roses and tulips, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.  A particular joy of hers was to decorate their home for every holiday.  Pairlee attended the First Bible Baptist Church in Great Bend for a number of years.

            Survivors include her husband, Marvin A. Lewis, Sr. of Great Bend, Kansas; six sons:  John P. Melton of Great Bend, Michael L. Melton of Concordia, Kansas, Marvin A. Lewis, Jr. (and his wife, Vanessa) of Great Bend, Kenny R. Lewis of Great Bend, and her twin sons, Donnie A. and Ronnie J. Lewis, both of Great Bend; six grandchildren:  Tamera and Mason Johnson of Concord, North Carolina, Elissa and Evan Melton of Overland Park, Kansas, and Kyra and Aubree Lewis of Great Bend, Kansas; two brothers:  Michael R. Moon and Kirby J. Moon, both of Festus, Missouri; two sisters:  Macy Allen of Maryville, Louisiana and Deedee Corn of Flat River, Missouri.  Pairlee was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters (Paula J. and Sherrie P. Lewis), and two sisters.

Crystal Colleen Shearer, 52, died March 15, 2012, at her home in Great Bend.

She was born April 24, 1959 at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of Robert J. and Eva M. Bedore Miller.  A resident of Great Bend formerly of Larned and Medicine Lodge, she was a retired Certified Medical Assistant.

She was of the Catholic Faith. 

Survivors include, one son, Robbie and wife Sandie Kigar, Larned, father, Robert J. Miller, Larned, three brothers, Robert Crosby, Gatesville, Texas, Gary Crosby, Medicine Lodge, and James Crosby, Larned, two sisters, Jane Ida Smart and Judy Kay Angell both of Medicine Lodge and one grandson Lucas. 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Crosby.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Morell Funeral Home, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding.  Cremation took place.  Friend may call from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

Lorraine Ann Woods

Larned – Lorraine Ann Woods, 85, died March 17, 2012, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born August 19, 1926, at Winona, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Ester Joswick Ebertowski, a Larned resident since 1974, moving from Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was a homemaker.

On February 25, 1945, she married William “Bill” Woods at Dallas, Texas. He died August 31, 2000.

Survivors include: five sons, William Gerald “Bill” Woods, David Woods and John Woods, all of Larned, James Woods, Crossville, Tennessee; a daughter, Carolyn Teegerstrom, Hugoton; a brother, Jerry Ebertowski, Minneapolis, Minnesota; four sisters, Patty Young, Mount Vernon, Texas, Betty Lubinski, Judy Poteet and Carol Volkner, all of Winona, Minnesota; twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel woods; three brothers, Edward Jr., Billy and Donnie Ebertowski; a sister, Dorothy Zabinski.

Funeral will be at 2p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Rev. Bill Fitzgerrel presiding. Visitation will be from 1p.m. to 8p.m. Sunday, 9a.m. to 8p.m. Monday and until service time Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.

On December 27, 1962 she married Delbert M. Shauers at Ness City, KS. He died September 9, 1995.
Margaret was a long time resident of Great Bend.
She was a freelance author and novelist having had many novels, short stories and poetry works published.
She was owner and operator of Shauers’ Engine Service. She also worked as a staff writer at Barton County College in
the communication department and taught creative writing at the college. She was a member of Kansas Author’s Club.
Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend where she also taught Sunday School and was a
nursery attendant.
