GREAT BEND — Robert Arno Jensen, 70, passed away August 3, 2018, at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. He was born August 2, 1948, at Great Bend, to Arno V. and Jessie Marie (Woods) Jensen.
Robert, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, retired from Aaron’s Repair as a machinist, previously working for Essex. He served his country during Vietnam in the U.S. Navy, obtaining the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He held dear to his heart his nephews and dogs.
Survivors include his two brothers, Frank Sell of Hutchinson and Jim Jensen of Valley Center; four sisters, Carol Malone of Oolagah, OK., Joyce Wapelhorst of Great Bend, Janis Reed of Great Bend and Suzanne Gaschler of Belle, MO.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Jensen and Rodney Jensen; and one sister, Georgianna Jensen.
Memorial graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend, with Randy Parr officiating. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. A memorial fund has been established for the Robert Arno Jensen Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Jimmy L. Ellis, Sr., age 73 years, passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2018 at Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend, Kansas after a brief illness. Jimmy was born on September 5, 1944 at San Mateo, California to Richard L. and Lucille (Titsworth) Ellis and moved with his family at an early age to Great Bend. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1962, was united in marriage to Vera Carver on September 12, 1959 at Hoisington, Kansas. He owned and operated Ellis Welding and Fencing in Great Bend for over twenty-five years. Jimmy then went to work for Great Bend Packing in the Maintenance Department, where he worked for just short of twenty years before they ceased operation. In his younger years he and his family spent much of their spare time at Lake Wilson. Jimmy loved fishing and playing poker, and played in Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments right up until his last illness.
