Maxine Mae Haddon

haddon-maxineELLINWOOD — Maxine Mae Haddon, 80, died Nov. 6, 2016, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born March 18, 1936, at Great Bend, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Scarborough) Batchman. She married Loren Don Haddon June 13, 1954, at Great Bend. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mrs. Haddon was a homemaker.

Mrs. Haddon was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood.

Survivors include her husband, Loren Don Haddon of the home; one son, Randy Haddon and his wife Jimalene of Ellinwood; one daughter, Lynette Scheufler of Ellinwood; one sister, Donna Fischer of Hudson; five grandchildren, Jason Scheufler and his wife Ashley, Jeremy Scheufler and his wife Amanda, Jodi Porter and her husband Mark, Chance Haddon and his wife Katie and Tara Haddon; and six great-grandchildren, Ellis Scheufler, Emmy Scheufler, Harper Scheufler, Kellen Scheufler, Reece Porter and Clementine Haddon. She was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 701 W. 7th, Ellinwood, with the Rev. William F. Johnson and Pastor Debby Rains officiating. Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Bryant Funeral Home. mcgreevy-juneGREAT BEND — June L. McGreevy, 95, died Nov. 3, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. She was born July 17, 1921, at Lorraine, the daughter of William and Edna (Narey) Murray. She married William Stanley McGreevy Sept. 3, 1946, at Great Bend, Kansas.  He died September 26, 1974. A Great Bend resident since 1941, coming from Lorraine, Mrs. McGreevy was a Registered Nurse at Central Kansas Medical Center for 25 years. She enjoyed playing golf and cards, as well as bowling.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #3111, St. Rose Dominican School of Nursing Alumni and Lake Barton Ladies Golf Association, all of Great Bend.

Survivors include three sons, Michael McGreevy and his wife Colleen of Denver, Colo., Robert McGreevy and his wife Debbie of Pratt, and Timothy McGreevy of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Shane McGreevy, Kaci Lankard and her husband Kelsey, Haley Kern and husband her Peter, Abby Hinman and her husband Jeff, Coy McGreevy, Shawn Sauer, and Mary Jenkins and her husband Justin; and twelve great-grandchildren, McKenna Kern, Garrett Kern, Stanley Kern, Hudson Hinman, Morgan McGreevy, Brooklyn McGreevy, Riley Lankard, Ocean Jenkins, Eden Jenkins, Clint Irvin, Brianna Area and Savannah Area. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis McGreevy, and one sister, Joan Esfeld.

Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Louis Trung Dinh Hoang celebrating. strecker-joyceGREAT BEND — Joyce M. Heinz-Strecker, 64, died Nov. 2, 2016 at her home in Great Bend. Born March 23, 1952 at Dodge City, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Esther (Rohlman) Heinz. She married Dennis Strecker, Jr. May 6, 1989 at Garden City. A Great Bend resident since 1989, coming from Garden City, Mrs. Strecker worked in customer service at Dillons for 22 years.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Great Bend.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Strecker, Jr., of the home; one sister, Patty Oborny of Heizer; and two brothers, Robert J. Heinz and his wife JoAnn of Pottsboro, Texas, and Edwin Paul Heinz and his wife Angie of Garden City; and father-in-law, Dennis Strecker, Sr. of Great Bend.

Glenn S. Fox

Glenn S. Fox, born September 30, 1911, in Rozel, Kansas passed away on October 29, 2016 in Mission Hills, Kansas. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne L. Perez, Mission Hills, Kansas; son-in Law, Samuel Perez, Mission Hills, Kansas; Grandchildren: Michael Perez, Mission Hills, Kansas, Andrea Adams, Kaufman, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret. Mr. Fox graduated from Rozel High School in 1929. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University in 1933. He was a member of Farm House Fraternity, Social Fraternity, Alpha Zeta and Gamma Sigma Delta; Honorary Fraternities. He earned his Master of Science Degree at Kansas State University in 1937. He was County Agent-Stafford County, Kansas, Extension Economist-Kansas State University, Professor of Economics and Sociology- Kansas State University, Assistant General Manager of Consumer Co-Operatvie Association (Farmland Industries) and Assistant General Manager of Co-Operative Marketing Association. He retired from CMA in 1970. He then worked for the State Department for five years. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Europe. He was a wonderful Father, grandfather and Friend. His loving memory will remain in our hearts. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00pm Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The family will also greet friends from 9-10:00am Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary, 916 Main St., Larned, KS, followed by a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday in the Larned Cemetery with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Carl Anthony Jilg

jilg-carlALBERT – Carl Anthony Jilg, 94, died Oct. 30, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. Born June 13, 1922 at Olmitz, he was the son of Joseph and Christina (Schenk) Jilg. He married Teresa Marie Bahr Aug. 20, 1946 at Olmitz. A lifetime Albert resident, he was employed by the Albert Coop for 43 years. Mr. Jilg was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #2100, both of Olmitz and Albert Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Jilg, of Great Bend; two daughters: Susan Worthen and her husband Lane of McKinney, Texas, and Eileen Walcher of Great Bend; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Gross of Wichita; four grandchildren, Jeff Worthen, Michelle Schindler, Bryan Worthen and Billy Brown, II; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Aaron Jilg, Paul Jilg and Jack Jilg, two sisters, Leona Gerritzen and Sr. Anastasia Jilg, and one granddaughter, Christina Brown.

Vigil Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at Bryant Funeral Home. She was born Jan 15, 1917, in Pawnee Rock, KS. On December 26, 1945, she married William John Pechanec. He passed away March 2, 1956.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn A. Polis, Downingtown PA, and Adele M. Rundles and her husband Donald, of Poteau, OK; five grandsons, Tom Polis Jr. and wife Ashley, Landenberg PA , Bill Polis and wife Mary, Landenberg, PA, John Rundles and wife Greta, Northport AL, James Rundles and wife Janie, Hooker OK, Mark Rundles and wife Tammi, Tuscaloosa AL; and nine great grandchildren, Evan, Aiden, Rowan and Alexis Polis, and Parker, Camden, Paitlyn, Clark and Casey Rundles.
